How this type of ticketing works

Agritourism revenue is concentrated into a handful of weekends, and the difference between a great season and a rough one is whether the parking lot and the wagon line stay manageable.

TixSimple sells timed-entry admission so arrivals are spread across the day, with add-ons for hayrides, u-pick buckets, flashlight maze nights, and group bookings. Guests bring a QR code on their phone and staff scan at the barn or the gate.

What to set up in TixSimple

    1. 1Create an event for the season, with each open day as a date.
    2. 2Add ticket types: Adult, Child, Toddler Free, Family Four-Pack, Season Pass.
    3. 3Turn on arrival windows with a cap sized to your parking and wagon capacity.
    4. 4Add-ons: hayride, u-pick bucket by size, flashlight maze, bonfire site, pumpkin voucher.
    5. 5Add group and school field trip tickets with custom fields for headcount and bus arrival time.
    6. 6Create scanner keys for the gate, the maze entrance, and the wagon loading area.

A $16 ticket carries a TixSimple platform fee of $0.54 (1.3% + $0.33). If you sell 600 tickets, the total platform fee is $324. Stripe processing is separate and you choose whether to pass fees to the buyer or absorb them.

    Weather, groups and repeat visits

Weather closures are part of farming. Because each open day is its own date with its own inventory, you can close one Saturday and reissue those tickets to another weekend without unwinding the whole season.

Season passes and family four-packs turn one visit into three. Sell them early at a discount, and use an uploaded email list to give returning families or CSA members automatic pricing.

    Frequently asked questions

Do we have to sell timed entry?

No, but it helps on peak weekends. You can run open admission on quiet weekdays and switch to capped arrival windows for October Saturdays.

How do we sell u-pick by the bucket?

Add a bucket as an add-on ticket type in each size you offer. Guests pay online and redeem at the barn with the same QR code.

What happens if we close for rain?

Close that date and either refund through Stripe or issue replacement tickets for another day. Other dates keep selling normally.

    Can toddlers be free?

Yes. Create a $0 toddler ticket so you get an accurate headcount without paying any platform fee — free tickets are always free.
